Tigerhead Releases New Single ‘Who is the Wildcat”

Following her solo EP on BPitch earlier this year, Berlin’s very own Tigerhead returns with a new hypnotic single. ‘Who is the Wildcat’ is accompanied by a music video, continuing to push the boundaries of her musical palette with a light twist. Get ready for a satirical banger!

Tigerhead Releases New Single 'Who is the Wildcat"

Tigerhead operates in an abstract sonic niche driven by an obsession with digging for hidden treasures. In addition, her approach is underpinned by a certain deep musicality fostered over time as a musician, vocalist, DJ, and producer. Skewing tradition in favour of exploration, her music reflects a rejection of genre norms that taps into new sonic terrains with a playful streak.

“The song text is about the vanity of an artist’s life and how talent can go the
wrong way.”

‘Who Is The Wildcat’ was made with a touch of satire aimed towards the scene. Therefore, it symbolises a jokingly cold shoulder to those who DJ for vanity. She explains, ‘it’s all in the lyrics: ‘no snow, no show, no pay, no play’.’

The track opens with a hypnotic vocal incantation over stripped back drums. At last, the queen of all acid leads comes creeping in, blowing out the speakers. Just imagine, an immersive wall of sound that drops into shuffling percussive licks.

“While editing the video, I decided to create an imaginary dialogue that somewhat sums up the night and takes it to a more original cinematic level. I wanted to create a story that mixes
documentary and fiction, a bit dark but with humor, in the style of what could be a Gaspar Noé or David Lynch film.”

Laura Martinova

Much like her previous releases lean into a style of music that goes beyond genre, the video offers a tone that speaks to various sentiments, from darkness to humour. Directed and filmed by Laura Martinova on a warm summer night in Barcelona, the narrative features Karina Kolokolchykova. She is playing a frenetic character leading an unseen cameraperson on a night of hedonistic dissolution. A fever dream to further spin on Tigerhead’s surreal production, with dialogue that jumps around as frantically as a wild night out.
