Blue Leather, flickering lights, black stars and a wild mix of sounds. That’s how I remember Duckwrths Berlin Show at Hole44.
The first night of his Europe Tour FREAKSHOW started in Berlin and Master Peace kicked off the evening with a burst of energy. Right away I could feel how passionate and welcoming the crowd was, eager to dance and embrace the music. When Duckwrth entered the stage, he was met with a warm reception, setting the tone for an intimate and magnetic evening.
His performance was a blend of raw, old-school punk attitude and contemporary songwriting. The songs tell a very personal, almost confessional story, revealing the tender side of Duckwrths artistry. In his newest Album „All American Fuckboy“ he explores themes of toxic behavior in relationships and self-destructive impulses. Proofing that he’s not afraid to be honest and vulnerable.
What makes Duckwrth so compelling is his refusal to be boxed in. Genre labels have no meaning here. He created a captivating fusion of Hip-Hop, RnB and Rock. The setlist was a thrilling ride through these influences that clash and merge into something wholly unique. Because of this cross-genre sound, you never knew what to expect from the next song. For me as a first time listener, this made his show even more fun and captivating. The live drums were my personal highlight, punching through the tracks which often echoed the frenetic energy of DC hardcore. His sound is unpredictable and refreshing and shows his versatility as an artist.
On stage his presence felt electric and his infectious energy quickly spread through the crowd, leaving nobody able to resist moving. A lot of the fans had drawn stars around their eyes, a reference to the All American Fuckboy Album Cover. It was impossible not to notice the excitement radiating through the room. It was truly an unforgettable evening.
