LAURA GERTE DEBUTS ‘DESIRE/CHAOS’ FOR SS26 AT BERLIN FASHION WEEK IN A RAW AND INTIMATE SETTING
Laura Gerte unveiled her SS26 collection, Desire/Chaos, in a groundbreaking presentation at Wehrmuehle, a location never before used for Berlin Fashion Week. The Berlin-based designer delivered a visceral and transformative runway show that reflected the complexity of the feminine experience.
200 guests, including Jerry Hoffmann, Karolina Spakowski, Domiziana, Luisa Gaffron, and Emma Drogunova, entered the intimate and immersive atmosphere. The runway was set against the backdrop of an undone Berlin-chic building, mirroring the duality of the collection’s name: Desire/Chaos.

With help from makeup by Philipp Verheyen, Laura Gerte’s Desire/Chaos is a powerful exploration of contemporary femininity. The collection weaves together themes of desire, impermanence, womanhood, pleasure, inevitability, beauty, decay, and anger.
The collection is a visual metaphor of armor and intimacy, expressed through tactile juxtapositions and contrasting silhouettes. Fluidity meets restraint, with skin-tight mesh creating ephemeral forms while rigid canvas evokes a modern take on corsetry. Raw edges, distressed jersey, and denim rage against the delicacy of draped tees, silk foulards, and wrapped mesh. Sustainability remains at the heart of Laura Gerte’s work, with the collection crafted from upcycled, recycled, and deadstock materials. Her signature techniques—thick piping, smocked silk, patchworked prints, and trompe l’oeil—run subtly through the designs. These elements pulled together within one collection creates a poetic yet confrontational narrative.

The show was an intimate and multi-sensory experience. A live camera captured the runway in real-time, projecting it into the space, while a haunting soundtrack featuring a monologue delved into the collection’s themes. The result was a raw and emotional journey, leaving the audience captivated by an interplay of strength and fragility, ease and rigidity, delicacy and defiance. Laura Gerte’s Desire/Chaos is not just a collection—it’s a statement, a reflection, and a celebration of the multifaceted feminine experience.
