Shuto Kitagawa’s Emotional Weaponry at ART PLATTE, curated by BLINK BERLIN and KEYI Magazine— Opening during Berlin Art Week, September 10–13, 2025.

About Shuto Kitagawa
Rooted in photography with extensions into SHIBARI performance and installation, Shuto Kitagawa explores the invisible weight of feeling — how it moves, fractures, and imprints itself on the body. Kitagawa’s images haunt, confront, and hold space for what words can’t. Originally from Japan and currently based in Berlin, his visual work draws from personal rupture while speaking to collective emotional experience, crafting atmospheres that are both intimate and universal.

Exhibition and Closing Act
Curated by BLINK, this intimate photographic excavation by Shuto Kitagawa slices into the core of Berlin Art Week as part of the first edition of ART/PLATTE from 10. to 13. September in the Gallery space of Platte in Berlin.
MAZUHA 混刃 mixed and blade, form a word that doesn’t exist in language, but lives in the body.
This is Kitagawa’s visual syntax: sharp, fragile, and unspeakably human. Here, emotion is the weapon. Not just something that wounds, but something that cuts through silence.
With haunting gestures and a powerful visual language, Kitagawa captures the chaos of emotion and the body as both weapon and witness. Divided into five emotional states, SILENCE, FRACTURE, WOUND, SCREAM, and MEMORY the work doesn’t seek to comfort. It demands space. It demands distance.

“There’s something about Tokyo. Not the neon-sick surface, I mean the real Tokyo. The shadow under the gloss. That tension between control and collapse. A silence that cuts sharper than any noise. That’s the aesthetic I keep returning to. As the founder of BLINK, I’ve always gravitated toward artists who live in that tension and aren’t afraid of that kind of depth. Our mission has never been about safety. We exist to carve space for voices that move something real. That’s why I chose Shuto Kitagawa for this intimate cut during Berlin Art Week. His work doesn’t shout, it lingers. Delicate, disarming, and absolutely precise. With ART PLATTE, we get to go deeper and through KEYI Magazine, we speak directly to those who already know that we don’t curate to soothe, we curate to crack something open.”

Shibari (A momet of raw, unfiltered intimacy)

On Saturday 13. September at 19:30, the exhibition spills out of the frame and into the flesh with a live SHIBARI performance. Raw, ceremonial, and intimate, with Japanese shibari artist BENI, model REMI, and live sound by the duo KIKU and FAE aka SENSEU. SHIBARI isn’t about bondage. It’s about surrender. Precision. Breath. Stillness as power. This is emotional exposure in real time, with the body as canvas, memory, and blade. This is for release.

KIKU conjures a sonic landscape that grips both body and psyche, merging physical intensity with raw emotion. Closing the exhibition, ANDRIY K delivers a live set that blurs the lines between ambient, IDM, and shades of drum and bass crafting a sound both cerebral and deeply kinetic. Having performed alongside boundary-pushing artists like Upsammy, M.E.S.H., Sedef Asasi, Evita Mandi, Buttechno, Spekki Webb, Maoupa Mazzocchetti, Katarina Gryvul, and Jay Glass Dubs, he now brings the night to a close in the studio of PLATTE where atmosphere reigns and sound tells its own story.
