Daring Stockholm-based brand AVAVAV presented its FW25 collection, “The Hole”, this week in Milan.

True to the collection’s name, models emerged from a foggy, grave-like hole at the top of the AVAVAV runway, suggesting the waking of a vast, dark underworld. Bruised, bloodied, and deadly cool, each look suggested an inescapable reality check. What were once vague fears and dystopian dread are rapidly materializing in the world around us, yet our attention remains elsewhere. AVAVAV’s intentional details and smart styling ensured that this conceptual collection would impress– in both concept and quality.

Suits with ruched details looked as though an angry, invisible hand had grabbed hold of the fabric and pulled it back, while skeletal fingers peeked from extra-long sleeves.

Some looks had a softness– dusty blues, delicate fabrics, and dainty bows– that contrasted the macabre of the rest of the collection.

The brand collaborated with Adidas to expand on its signature sports-inspired styles, reminding fans of the SS25 show, which took place a track. AVAVAV incorporated high-waisted shorts, huge shoulder-pads, sweatbands, tracksuits, and padded goalkeeper gloves into various looks from the collection.

Masks, outerwear, and exaggerated eyewear hinted at self-preservation in a world suspended somewhere between life and death.

Skeletally slashed hoodies and dark gauzy veils added to the theme as models made their way out of the grave and onto the runway.

The brand showcased its skilled craftsmanship through structured bags and hoods, flouncy skirts, and casually elegant baggy jeans. AVAVAV is not a brand to shy away from unique silhouettes.
