The Berlin-based brand opened the second day of fashion week with its SS26 collection “CHIME”.

Founded in 2022, the Milk of Lime ethos revolves around the urge to connect. This SS26 collection was a winding path back in search of memories of a simpler time, a rural lifestyle, and a forgotten connection with nature. Guests were provided with a special edition Milk of Lime newspaper that offered show notes, moodboards, poetry, short stories, and the collection’s jewelry. This openness in sharing the inspirations behind the show indicated the brand’s urgency behind the message.
Reconnect now, find your way back to nature, because it won’t be there forever.

As the program explains, “chime” has multiple meanings. It can be a melodious ringing sound, which the audience heard projected through speakers during the show. One can chime in to conversation or chime in with agreement. The collection sparked that conversation, in questioning how we communicate through fashion, what it distracts us from, and how we can use it to refocus.

“On a long quest for what is honest and what is pure, we find ourselves searching the heart for all that moves us; not only in the sartorial realm, but from the intricate fabric of everyday life — our rural reality.
Living in the country-side reveals and confronts us with our very nature and what we deem beautiful.”

One shirt read “I demand poetry”. The designers seem fed up– they yearn for simplicity and for the natural. The styling was organic, and most pieces hung fluidly over the body. High level tailoring, rustic accessories, and a refined color palette established a coarse elegance throughout the collection.

“This brand approaches ‘Demi Couture’ as a refined definition of luxury, where time, durable materials and craftsmanship stand as the main pillars.”

The brand incorporates bespoke pieces into its collections, with the understanding that this is one of the more sustainable approaches to high fashion.

The show took place in the upper floor of Fürst, a popular venue this fashion week. But for Milk of Lime, it seemed contradictory– the building project is a high rise dedicated to “urban living”. However, it is currently under construction, giving the space a rugged feeling, and the higher floors are sheltered by the treetops. It is like being surrounded by a forest, when in reality the city surrounds it.
This is ultimately what the brand questions with “Chime”: how can high fashion incorporate the virtues of rural living? Through natural fabrics, chiming accessories, fluid silhouettes, and concept, Milk of Lime moves towards finding that balance.
