Sally Dige Emerges into the Light with Third Album “Holding the Sun”

A New Chapter in Sound

Berlin-based Canadian artist Sally Dige returns with Holding the Sun, her third full-length album, released on July 11th, 2025 via her independent label, Dige Records. Known for her cold, synth-driven darkwave soundscapes, Dige takes a strikingly new direction with this release β€” embracing warmth, acoustic textures, and a spirit of openness and collaboration.

After her 2017 album Holding On, Dige struggled to find inspiration without repeating herself. This led her to abandon synthesizers and explore acoustic instruments β€” many of which she taught herself to play during the pandemic. The result is a warmer, more human sound that includes mandolin, harp, balalaika, acoustic and electric guitars, violin, cello, and contrabass. A Berlin choir and international collaborators also feature prominently.

A Six-Year Journey of Self-Discovery

The album took six years to complete, shaped by slow, intentional writing, countless rewrites, and personal growth. β€œHolding the Sun is about embracing a new sense of self and following my truth,” Dige explains. It’s a thematic contrast to Holding On, shifting from isolation and melancholy to light, hope, and openness.

The tracklist includes the singles β€œIt’s You I’m Thinking Of,” β€œYou,” and the instrumental β€œOur Secret,” all accompanied by self-directed videos.

Since founding Dige Records in 2020, Dige has taken full creative control over her music and visuals. She writes, records, produces, and designs everything herself β€” making Holding the Sun not just an album, but a complete personal statement.

Holding the Sun is available now on all major streaming platforms, and in vinyl, CD, and cassette formats.
