David Castellani-the live modular artist and Noetic label owner -joins forces with Keyi Magazineand Adam Audioto present the second annual Noetic Showcase during ADE week. Expect an evening of music, photography and discussions which bring together a community of like-minded music lovers, united by a passion for live techno, hardware, and boundary-pushing performance.
Curated by David Castellani, the event will build on the success of last autumn’s successful Noetic showcase in LA which featured Ken Ishiiand DJ Hyperactive b2b Hiroko Yamamura. This time the focus will be on live techno and hardware-led performances, with two of his favourite artists Lady Starlight and MAEDON confirmed for the evening, alongside a live modular set from Castellani himself.
Says Castellani: “Both MAEDON and Lady Starlight are top-tier performerswho constantly push the limits of live techno. Completely dedicated to their craft, they embody the spirit of this event and mirror the passion that drives my own life. Beyond the music, they’re incredible human beings, and this gathering is as much about community and friendship as it is about sound-growing together through the proces.
Following a striking debut at Tresor in September, Keyi Studio also brings its photography exhibition ‘Behind the Bass Line’ to the event, showcasing portraits of electronic music icons including Ellen Allien, Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Monika Kruse, DJ Hell, andDave Clarke, among others. The series made history when first displayed in Tresor’s legendary tunnel -a symbol of Berlin’s post-industrial techno identity -marking the first time the space had ever been used for an exhibition.
Complimenting the musical programming, Castellani will also lead a discussion on the power of hardware in shaping the future of live techno featuring Bloody Mary, Ancient Methods+ more. The event will also host a meet and greet with Jeff Mills from 5pmwho’ll be signing 50 limited edition copies of the latest Keyi Magazine available for purchase. Freddy Kwill join from 6pm to sign KEYI. Copies of KEYI no.33 featuring David Castellani will also be pre-printed and feature at the event. For anyone wanting an introduction to the Precision Disrupter by Anti-Kulture, the module created by Castellani, he will be available after his set to personally introduce it to attendees.
Lady starlight needs no introduction, an icon of live techno, she’s equally at home collaborating with Surgeon as she is Lady Gaga, while racking up releases on Ostgut Ton, Tresor and Figure along the way. As a live performer, she puts machines and instinct front and centre, with her shows a visceral reminder of techno’s primal energy.
David Castellani’s influence goes well beyond the DJ booth, as a live techno performer, head of Noetic and a modular instrument designer for Anti-Kulture, the company he launched in 2022. Castellani’s live modular performances –played alongside everywhere from Colin Benders to Luke Slater -are sculpted entirely on hardware, drawing from a deep relationship with modular synthesis to create soundscapes that are both precise and unpredictable.
MAEDON is a rising force in the techno world, as a Tresor resident and founder of the Rant & Rave imprint set up to showcase female talent in the traditionally male-dominated techno space. As a live performer, her sets are dense, driving, and fearless, pushing hardware into new rhythmic territories while maintaining a raw edge that feels both modern and timeless.
