Kerrie returns to Tresor Records with her second EP Echoes Of The Live Wire + Q&A and Premiere.

Irish techno producer, Kerrie, returns to Tresor Records on the 24th of October 2025 with her second EP for the label. Entitled Echoes Of The Live Wire, this collection captures the beauty and essence of live performance; a moment in time never to be repeated. This fixing of time is also given a different meaning as the EP explores the ways in which intense moments in our lives, both joyful and painful, are crystallised into memory, both beautiful and haunting, lingering long after they’ve passed.

Hey! It’s great to have you here! Please tell us more about yourself and your journey in the industry.

My journey in electronic music started out listening to pirate radio stations in Ireland, going to underage clubs and then going to actual clubs when I was underage. Listening to mix tapes, learning to mix on turntables in the late 90s and then when I moved to the UK in 2007, I bought my own DJ setup. And a year later started to produce music. I also started playing live in 2017. I worked in a record store called Eastern Bloc in Manchester for over 10 years, which definitely had a huge impact on my taste and knowledge and inevitably my love for playing vinyl. These days, I’m lucky enough to be doing music full-time and playing all over the world and I’m also a resident at Tresor Berlin. I’ve released on many labels over the years, such as Tresor, Blueprint, Cultivated Electronics, MORD, Symbolism and I also run and release on my own label called ‘Dark Machine Funk’.

The EP title Echoes Of The Live Wire is evocative and multi-layered. Can you talk about how the idea of the “live wire” connects technology, memory, and the nervous system in your vision?

I like the idea of having double meaning in my track titles / EP themes. Live wire refers to the ‘live wire’ in an electrical system. In this instance, a reference to the circuitry in my machines, and it is also a reference to the circuitry in the (my) human nervous system. The ‘Echoes Of’ part of the EP title is a reference to memory, where our life experiences are crystallised into memory, and those memories tend to stay with us. It’s also the title of the b1 track, where the lead synth line is repetitive in an almost ‘echo’ like style.

Your music seems to be inspired by classic Detroit techno. Can you share which Detroit artists or records shape your approach?

I’ve been hugely inspired by the sounds of Detroit since I got into techno, with some of my favourite artists being the second wave Artists such as Underground Resistance and the solo works of Jeff Mills, Robert Hood and Mike Banks. As well as Drexciya, Octave One, Stingray, Terrence Dixon, Claude Young, Carl Craig. Detroit is such a musically rich city! I also love listening and learning about all the other sounds of the city, from hip hop sounds of J Dilla, to the soul and funk of Amp Fiddler, P-Funk and of course the legendary Motown label. I find it really interesting to learning about the socio-economic impact of the car industry that monopolised the city and how that fed into the music. I love that the majority of the music from the city has soul and funk, even in techno and electro, which is something that really resonates with me and in my music.

You mention that your creative process is a form of meditation andemotional processing. What does that look like in practice?

By sitting and being present with the machines, the music usually flows. Naturally, you get resistance where the temptation of distraction is there. But if I can centre myself and stay in the moment, I usually start creating and get in the flow state. Which is also a ‘meditative state’. I usually find that if I had any feelings of anxiety before a studio session, they are gone by the time I’m done!

This is your second EP with Tresor—a label with deep historical weight. How has your relationship with the label evolved, and what does it mean to you to return with this project?

Tresor is a dream to work with in theory and in practice. They are very encouraging, supportive and help get the best out of the music and me without being pushy. It means a lot to be released on one of the most important techno labels of all time, and I am constantly pushing myself to bring them the best music I can.
