‘O Que Fica’ at London Fashion Week AW26: Rafael Azevedo’s Meditation on What Remains

Rafael Azevedo’s Show at London Fashion Week took place in St James Garlickhythe Church. The guests took their seats in the pews, waiting as if for a sermon to begin. From the start it was clear this was more of a performance than a traditional runway. A soft violin melody filled the space, as the first model entered, moving through the space as though she were possessed by something. The violin delicate at first, gradually shifted into a more unsettling tone. As the show moves along, two ballet dancer take the stage, their bodies often intertwined in fluid gestures, mesmerizing to watch.
‘O Que Fica’ or ‘What stays’, explores the layered and non-linear stages of grief and confronts the emotional residue that stays with us long after the loss. It examines the quiet heartbreak that lingers in both mind and body, shaping how we move, think and remember.
These themes are clearly visible in the textures of that garments that are distressed, stretched silhouettes and transparency that reveals the body rather than hiding it. Clothing that has lived, has been touched and carried memories. The color palette consists of white, softened cream and black. Pearl-like embellishments mapped the fabrics, as though memory has left its mark directly on the body.
