Unity in Design Global Network presents Anthology of African Stories – The People. The Land. The Heritage at London Fashion Week

Fashion designer and British Fashion Council member Tare Isaac founded Unity in Design Global Network (UDGN) to elevate underrepresented and African designers through mentorship, visibility, and global opportunities. Drawing on her experience as a Black immigrant building a brand in the UK, she created UDGN to champion cultural authenticity, creative excellence, and long-term success. Three African Designers, Twin by Tare, Tayameaca and Jermaine Bleu come together to represent the complexity, specificity and individuality of their heritage, through fashion.
The People – ASIN KAI MI (Twin by Tare, ā€œIn My Bloodā€)
Drawing inspiration from old family photographs, the collection reinterprets ceremonial garments from Ijaw marriage rites. The George Wrapper, a fabric handed down through generations, anchors contemporary silhouettes with layered construction, hand beadwork, and precise tailoring. It’s celebrating cultural continuity rather than relying on nostalgia.

The Land – SAFARI (Tayameaca, ā€œA Living Archiveā€)
Rooted in lived experience and memories of Zimbabwean landscape, Safari treats land as both teacher and memory. Earthly tones, fluid silhouettes, and tactile textures translate soil, sky, and water into garments that move with the body, emphasizing how landscape shapes perception, movement, and identity.

The Heritage – TWA ME FOTO (Jermaine Bleu, ā€œTake a Picture of Meā€)
Twa me foto explores family heritage and the enduring cultural power of traditional Ghanaian dress. Jermaine Bleu transforms kente into modern silhouettes while preserving its ceremonial significance. Through handcrafted techniques, the collection honors the care behind ceremonial garments, emphasizing memory, heritage, and visibility. The show combines live runway and film, creating a layered storytelling experience that reflects each designer’s personal journey.
