Independent eyewear brand Paloceras has joined forces with Polish 3D artist Ada Sokół to launch Exuva, a limited-edition eyewear collection inspired by butterflies, transformation, and the journey from digital creation to physical design.
Named after the Latin word exuvia—the shell left behind during metamorphosis—the collection explores the idea of shedding expectations and embracing change. The butterfly motif also reflects Paloceras’ identity, with the brand’s name originating from Rhopalocera, the scientific suborder of butterflies.
Where Digital Art Meets Craftsmanship
Known for her dreamlike 3D visuals and collaborations with brands including Nike, Louis Vuitton, Apple, and Valentino, Ada Sokół approached Exuva as an opportunity to bring her digital imagination into the physical world.
“I was drawn to creating tangible pieces, as my work mainly exists in the digital space,” says Sokół. “Accessories, like jewellery or eyewear, have a special place in my heart, and the moodboard was a mix of couture references and pictures of insects.”
The result is a sculptural frame featuring butterfly-inspired lines, translucent medical-grade resin, a continuous visor lens, and interchangeable silver charms shaped as a flower, heart, or star.
Produced Inside the Paloceras MicroFactory
Every Exuva frame is produced entirely in-house at the Paloceras MicroFactory in Helsinki, where advanced 3D-printing technology meets traditional craftsmanship. This process allows the design to remain remarkably close to Sokół’s original vision.
“Exuva reflects a shared desire to shed expectations and experiment outside of a commercial brief,”
says Paloceras co-founder and Design Director Alexis Perron-Corriveau.
An Immersive Launch in Warsaw
To mark the release, Ada Sokół has created an immersive installation at PURO Warszawa Stare Miasto, running from 26 to 28 June. Designed as a cocoon-like environment, the installation extends the collection’s themes of transformation into a spatial experience.
Designed as a cocoon-like space, the installation expands the collection’s story through large-scale spatial design. Ultimately, Paloceras x Ada Sokół Exuva shows how contemporary eyewear can become wearable art.
