UNVAIN’s big debut show took place at the Feuerle Collection, an interdisciplinary art space housed in a former World War 2 telecommunications bunker. The brand was founded in 2020 by Robert Friedrichs and reflects the raw energy of Berlins subcultures. UNVAIN is known for a distinctive aesthetic that is architectural, elegant and quietly rebellious.
UNVAIN takes its name from the idea of being “not vain,” signaling a pursuit of beauty that resists polish and perfection. Rather than striving for flawlessness, the brand places tension at the center of its philosophy. Its design language thrives on contrast, pairing roughness with softness, severity with sensitivity, and the familiar with the estranged. Each garment inhabits an in-between state, where raw expression meets considered refinement.
Their self-titled Autumn/Winter Collection was designed as a straightforward and honest introduction to the brand. Showing its identity without borrowing ideas from elsewhere. The collection clearly expresses what UNVAIN is about: a rockstar attitude, a sense of mysticism, and a clean, bold, almost architectural simplicity. Sharp minimalism collides with bold, sculptural shapes as the silhouettes shift and evolve. Epaulettes, studs, sheer fabrics, leather, Napoleonic references, and upcycled fur accents actively build a conversation between strength and exposure.
