BLITZ Announces Closure in 2026 After Nearly a Decade in Munich

BLITZ, a key underground music venue in Munich, has announced that it will close in 2026, marking the end of nearly a decade of club culture in the city.

The project began with a vision centered on openness, respect, and the shared experience of dancing together. Over the years, BLITZ developed into a community-driven space shaped by artists, staff, and visitors, often described by its team as a “temple of dance.”
The closure is due to circumstances beyond the club’s control. The final weekend will take place from July 31st to August 3rd, 2026, marking the last chapter of the venue’s history.
BLITZ emphasized that its identity was collectively built by everyone who passed through the space, forming a shared cultural and musical community over the years.
In its final months, the club will continue operating, focusing on celebrating its legacy and maintaining its core commitment to music and the dancefloor.
LOVE IS THE MESSAGE – MUSIC IS THE ANSWER.

Despite announcing its closure, BLITZ continues to present an extensive programme through its final months. Earlier this June, artists including Collabs 3000 (Chris Liebing & Speedy J), Lawrence, Molly, Skee Mask and Wata Igarashi helped shape the club’s farewell season.

The venue’s upcoming schedule remains packed with club nights and live performances. On June 12, Âme will perform a live set alongside Marie Montexier, followed by an all-night-long performance from BLITZ co-founder and resident DJ Muallem on June 13. Detroit Love, featuring Carl Craig, Mike Banks and Moodymann, arrives on June 19, while June 20 will see DJ Red, DJ Rolando, Glaskin LIVE and Stenny take over the club, accompanied by Bistro programming curated by Discos Movimiento and Schleuse Eins.

The month concludes with CSD Zentral on June 27–28, a multi-floor Pride celebration dedicated to queer club culture and community programming across BLITZ, PLUS and BISTRO. July’s programme will continue with appearances from The Martinez Brothers, Daphni, Shed LIVE and Liturgy, among others.

In its closure statement, BLITZ confirmed that its final weekend will take place from July 31 to August 3, adding that it will continue bringing many of its favourite artists to Munich until then. After nearly a decade at the heart of Munich’s electronic music scene, the club is determined to celebrate its final chapter on the dance floor before embarking on whatever comes next.
