On Thursday, 24 September, Terenor Records takes over Säule at Berghain, bringing live performances from Kā and Ninon alongside B2B sets from Agata with Cunt Remember and Terenor co-founder Egregore with Zurich-based Jolly. The night also marks the release of Kā’s debut LP OVERSOUL on Terenor Records, connecting the album’s arrival with a live presentation in the space.
Kā is the solo project of Berlin-based South African artist Storm Willow Hartley.
At the centre of OVERSOUL is a self-made gong created from meteorite material, developed through a process of exposure to water and fire, hammering and refinement. Rather than working with fixed tuning, Hartley uses the gong as a shifting source of resonance, building dense layers of vibration that move between drone, noise and more suspended tonal structures. The result is a practice rooted in the physical qualities of metal and the way sound can transform a listening space.
Ninon approaches electronic music from another angle, bringing her audio research into a hardware-based live performance.
Her work moves between techno, experimental and cinematic forms, with a hybrid modular system at its core. The setup includes a neural-synthesis module she developed during her PhD at IRCAM, allowing sound to be generated and shaped in real time through an interaction between performer, machine and space.
