Our paths crossed in Shanghai, where Lebanon Hanover had their concert in VAS SHANGHAI as a part of the concept HazeSounds Presents : Lebanon Hanover 2024 CHINA TOUR.
Lebanon Hanover is a post-punk duo that originated in Sunderland, England, in 2010. The band features Swiss vocalist and guitarist Larissa Iceglass alongside British vocalist, bassist, and synthesist William Maybelline. William is also known for his solo EBM/Industrial project Qual. You can also enjoy their music online or on records and catch them on their path. They are currently signed with Fabrika Records in Greece and have released six studio albums so far so if you are into the cold wave and post-punk music it’s definitely the band to follow.
We met the band before their concert and did a few snaps in the meantime and had the pleasure of enjoying the concert as well with the Shanghainese band’s support act.
Hello & pleasure to meet you! How are you today?
William: All good thank you!
How did you enjoy China tour?
William: It was epic, even more intense than the first time. The fans were amazing, the food was incredible.
Larissa Iceglass: It was short and wild.
Shanghai, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Bubbling & Boiling Festival in Tianjin & which of China destinations did you perform if we missed some? Which of those gigs were remarkable and why? Any surprises? Which gig was your favorite?
Larissa Iceglass: the festival gigs were huge and exciting because we were new to many people there imagine 7 thousand people going silent after each song was really an experience.
What was your favorite thing about the tour & the places that inspired you?
Larissa Iceglass: We met an elderly Chinese woman who showed us around the temple and the food. We had incredible dishes on the whole tour wish I could have stayed longer and eaten more..
Any cultural shocks?
Larissa Iceglass: robots bringing takeaways to the room.
William: There was a crazy amount of Police at festivals, watching our every move. Possibly waiting for us to say something out of order. Besides, it’s pretty chill…
If you could come back, which destination you would like to discover and why?
Larissa Iceglass: Wuhan and generally more of South East Asia. Would love to play Bangkok one day…
