The German label shared its AW25/26 collection on day one of fashion week, presenting an existential assemblage of contrasting textures and prints.

HORROR VACUI, or “fear of empty spaces” in Latin, arrived to fashion week armed with textures, prints, and the promise of a snug passage into the brand’s inner sanctum.
The collection, “Inner Realms” made tangible the inner worlds that occupy so much of our time. That space we reserve for our thoughts and memories, which then seeps its way into the world outside of us. Knowing where one realm stops and the other begins can be difficult, emphasized in HORROR VACUI’s pleasing jumble of patterns and fabrics.

The maximalist garments look cozy, assuring us that our inner worlds are safe and comfortable. Liberty prints, some over a century old, cover classic fabrics of wool, gabardine, cotton lace, and corduroy. The collection feels like it is calling back to a previous time. One when our inner worlds were not so influenced by the distractions of this new age.

The collection felt intimate, as inner worlds are.
Dainty lace undergarments implied innocence, while thick quilted vests created plush barrier from the outer world.

Models wore layers of lacy fabrics and florals, with celestial motifs and scalloped hems concealing the body within.

This distinct collection was successful in showcasing the brand’s signature maximalist aesthetic, skilled craftsmanship, and storytelling.
