A Glimpse Into Seis Drum’s Expanding Sonic World
Following a string of EPs, the anonymous producer Seis Drum returns with Under Way, a ten-track album that marks a new chapter in the artist’s evolution. Slated for release on August 18, 2025 via Bulletdodge Records, the album explores a more expansive and cohesive format — balancing abstract textures with deep emotional weight.
The newly premiered track “Watt Volta” blends funky, mechanical percussion with experimental flair. It channels the artist’s roots in hip hop and 80s electro, processed into a highly tactile and rhythmically complex soundscape. It’s a track that feels both grounded and unpredictable
Sound as Excavation: Composition Meets Archaeology
At the heart of Under Way is a unique creative approach that treats sampling and composition like excavation. Seis Drum disassembles and recontextualizes vocal fragments, digital noise, and sonic scraps, transforming them into something rich, unfamiliar, and alive.
“Watt Volta” stands out with its gritty, mechanical funk and layered rhythmic parts—can you walk us through how this track came together, and how it fits into the wider concept of composition in the full spectrum of the album?
“As I like different kind of genres within the electronic music spectrum, I experimented with a new drum machine and was impressed by the way it created more industrial sounding drums. As I was a big fan of early 80’s Funk and EBM (i.e. Front 242, Nitzer Ebb etc), I wanted to capture that kind of filthy and metallic sound. That’s how Watt Volta came to life.”
‘Under Way’ marks a move from EPs to a full-length format, offering a more expansive storytelling space. What role does ‘Watt Volta’ play within that journey? Could you tell us about the process ?
“The initial goal was actually not to create an album. During the writing process I realised that I had enough material together to send to the label for them to choose. As they liked the whole package they offered me to make an album.
“Watt Volta” was actually one of the last tracks that was produced. While listening to what was already there I felt something more gritty would fit in well with the whole concept, as you already mentioned.”

Alongside “Watt Volta,” standout tracks include “Knowing” — a dreamy, synth-driven piece filled with cosmic textures — and “Octagon,” where acid basslines and spacey pads collide. The cinematic “Satine” adds a melodic dimension to the album’s diverse palette.
Under Way will be released digitally and on CD + cassette formats on August 18, 2025 via Bullet dodge Records.
