Berlin based Designer Vladimir Karaleev presented a capsule collection of fifty unique shirt Designs. By playing with multiple interpretations and connotations, but also the physical form of the shirt, he celebrates unique perspectives on the garment. The presentation invites Visitors to immerse themselves in the creative process and engage in dialogue with the designer. The inner process is made public and echoed through the visitors’ interaction.
The shirt can be styled in infinite possibilities, adaptable to the likes and creativity of the designer and wearer. The shirt can become a skirt, a jacket or a layering piece. Treating the shirt as a modular system, the project investigates construction, proportion and the potential of detail. Following the functional premise of his designs, Vladimir Karaleev presents a study in reduction, expansion and transformation. The shirts destination is unknown. Whether it is ultimately worn as a shirt or treated as a piece of Art on Display. The SHIRT:SYSTEM continues beyond the installation and the designers control.
The Capsule Collection is created from offcuts, deadstock and a few carefully selected new fabrics. SHIRT:SYSTEM features pieces made from wool, silk and cotton. The colors vary from earthy warm brown tones, to transparent hues and elegant check patterns.
