DONKER Unveils Hedemann’s Becoming The Madman on Upcoming Female Various Artists Compilation

Amsterdam-based label DONKER is set to premiere Hedemann’s track “Becoming The Madman” on its upcoming Female Various Artists compilation, scheduled for release on March 6, 2026. The compilation brings together a diverse group of female artists who share a common vision for music and artistic values, showcasing unique perspectives and sound identities.

This release is very personal to Hedemann. The track is a tribute to her grandfather, an independent artist who lived from his art and inspired her to pursue a creative path. In his final pieces, he began adding text, including the phrase “ik word een verwarde man,” which translates to “becoming a confused man.”

As she reflects,

“There is something powerful about continuing to make art, even when things become uncertain.”

Through this lens, Becoming The Madman represents both a homage to her grandfather and the beginning of her own artistic journey.

The track is filled with unusual sounds, unexpected textures, and small details that appear and disappear, creating a sense of unpredictability. It is intentionally unconventional, reflecting the courage to step into the unknown and embrace creative risks. According to Hedemann,

“Choosing to put out your first track, to step into the unknown and follow a creative path, can feel a bit mad in its own way.”

This approach gives the track a raw, experimental energy that resonates with the overall spirit of the compilation.

Beyond its musical innovation, the release carries a charitable purpose. All proceeds will be donated to PinkRibbon NL, supporting breast cancer research and awareness in the Netherlands. This combination of personal storytelling, experimental sound, and social impact underscores DONKER’s commitment to carefully curated projects that celebrate both creativity and community.
