Christiane Grimm Spectra will be presented by Galerie Sara Lily Perez from 4 June to 11 July 2026 at Bikini Berlin. In Spectra, Christiane Grimm transforms light into architecture. She works with layered Perspex, ribbed glass, and antique mouth-blown glass. Through these materials, Grimm constructs optical environments that shift through movement, reflection, and ambient illumination. The works do not function as static objects. Instead, they operate as immersive spatial interventions. Colour, depth, and perception remain in constant flux.

The exhibition introduces a new body of work. It marks a significant material shift within Grimm’s practice. By incorporating vintage and reclaimed glass, Spectra reflects an increasing engagement with sustainability and material consciousness. The exhibition also marks a move away from plexiglass.
Originally trained as an architect at Universität Stuttgart, Grimm approaches the wall as a site of spatial construction. She does not treat it as a flat surface. Translucent acrylic layers interact with pigmented surfaces and refractive materials. Together, they create holographic depth and unstable chromatic fields. These fields change according to the viewer’s movement and the surrounding light conditions.

Installed within the natural light environment of Galerie Sara Lily Perez, the exhibition unfolds as a constantly evolving perceptual experience. Grimm’s works remain entirely “unplugged.” They rely solely on the physical behaviour of light and material to generate their dynamic effects. Grimm’s work is held in major institutional and corporate collections. These include Deutsche Bank, the Würth Collection, the City of Heidelberg, and Das Kleine Museum in Weißenstadt.
Christiane Grimm is a German artist and trained architect. Her work explores geometric abstraction, optical perception, and spatial construction through acrylic glass, ribbed glass, and antique mouth-blown glass. Her practice investigates the relationship between viewer, movement, and material. It creates immersive visual environments shaped by light and refraction. An opening reception will take place on 4 June 2026 at Galerie Sara Lily Perez.
