Lady Starlight has built a reputation as one of electronic music’s most uncompromising live performers. Renowned for her fully hardware-based sets and fearless approach to analogue sound, she crafts immersive performances where spontaneity and raw energy take centre stage. As a producer, live artist, and long-time advocate of hardware-driven electronic music, she continues to push beyond trends, favouring groove, atmosphere, and emotional depth over convention. This year, she brings her distinctive live experience to Under Festival in Riga, where audiences can expect a journey that is as hypnotic as it is unpredictable.
Your live sets are 100% hardware. What does that unpredictability give you that laptops never could?
Sometimes the unpredictability is not a good thing… haha
I personally don’t like laptops because they don’t inspire creativity for me. I don’t like making music on the same device I check my emails on.

What kind of experience are you planning to create for the Under Festival crowd in Riga? You’ve always followed your own path. What’s the biggest challenge in staying original in today’s techno scene?
I’m tired of fast techno so I’ve slowed down my music which leaves room for different grooves and more melody. I’ve never thought like anyone so, for better or worse, it’s really easy for me to stay original. I’ve tried to make popular music at different times and I fail miserably. Haha

After years of playing around the world, what still gives you the same adrenaline before stepping on stage?
In most ways I feel the same as i did in the beginning of my career. The key to any music career is transformation. You have to keep challenging yourself by changing things up. Then you never get bored.
What’s one thing you hope people feel not just hear. When they leave your set at Under Festival?
My main goal in performances is always more about a feeling.
I want to transport people to another world. This one is boring.
