More Than Olive Oil: How Signor Oil Is Redefining Contemporary Luxury

Signor Oil believes extra virgin olive oil deserves more than a place at the table. Rooted in Italian craftsmanship and shaped by contemporary culture, the Berlin-based brand invites people to experience olive oil through design, hospitality, wellness, and meaningful human connection. Founded by Italian-Nigerian entrepreneur Denis Okore, Signor Oil is redefining what luxury food can look and feel like today.

As a special partner of KEYI Magazine during Berlin Fashion Week, Signor Oil presents olive oil not simply as a premium product, but as a cultural experience. Sharing a common appreciation for creativity, aesthetics, and independent culture, this collaboration reflects a vision that transcends disciplines, bringing together food, design, and contemporary living.

We spoke with Denis about the philosophy behind the brand, his hands-on approach to craftsmanship, and why the future of luxury lies not in excess, but in authenticity and care.

What inspired you to create Signor Oil, and what makes it different from other olive oil brands?

Signor Oil was born from a simple idea: to change the way people perceive extra virgin olive oil.

For too long, olive oil has been treated as a functional product—something people simply buy and use. We believe it deserves to be recognised as an expression of culture, craftsmanship and contemporary living.

Everything begins with exceptional quality, but quality alone is not enough. Through design, hospitality and meaningful experiences, we want to give olive oil the cultural value we believe it has always deserved.

That’s what makes Signor Oil different. We don’t just sell olive oil—we’re building a contemporary brand around it.

How has your Italian-Nigerian background shaped your vision for the brand?

Growing up between two cultures taught me that identity is never static—it evolves.

Italy gave me a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, food culture and attention to detail. My Nigerian heritage taught me the importance of community, generosity and bringing people together.

Signor Oil reflects both worlds. It respects Italian tradition while speaking a contemporary and international language through design, culture and experience.

Why was it important for you to be directly involved in every step of the olive oil production process?

Because true quality starts long before the bottle.

Every decision matters: the olive variety, the harvest, the extraction technology, the extraction temperature, the storage and every detail along the way.

Being directly involved means taking responsibility for every step of the process.

If we ask people to trust our brand, we have to know exactly what stands behind every bottle.

What defines a truly exceptional extra virgin olive oil?

A truly exceptional extra virgin olive oil is technically perfect, but that’s only the beginning.

It should express its origin, its olive variety and the people behind it.

It should be fresh, balanced and full of character, with fruitiness, bitterness and spiciness working in harmony.

Great olive oil doesn’t simply season food—it elevates the entire experience.

Signor Oil is about more than food. Why connect olive oil with design, fashion, and culture?

Because great products deserve great experiences.

We believe olive oil belongs in the same cultural conversation as design, architecture, fashion and hospitality. Not because we’re trying to make olive oil fashionable, but because they all share the same values: craftsmanship, research, aesthetics and identity.

Design isn’t decoration for us. It’s part of the way people experience the product.

What role do hospitality and wellness play in the future of luxury food brands?

I believe the future of luxury food is about care rather than exclusivity.

Hospitality is about making people feel welcomed.

Wellness begins with everyday choices, especially the food we eat.

The brands that will matter in the future won’t simply offer products. They will create experiences that improve everyday life and build a deeper connection with quality, culture and wellbeing.

Signor Oil is joining KEYI Magazine as a partner during Berlin Fashion Week. What attracted you to this collaboration?

KEYI represents a contemporary and creative environment where Arts, culture and independent brands come together.

Berlin Fashion Week is about much more than clothing. It’s about ideas, creativity and new perspectives.

For us, it was the perfect place to present olive oil in a completely different way—not just as food, but as an experience connected to design, hospitality and culture.

We hope this collaboration shows that exceptional olive oil can naturally belong in conversations around creativity, aesthetics and contemporary lifestyle.

Finally, what does luxury mean to you today?

To me, luxury is no longer about excess.

Luxury is knowing where something comes from. It’s the care behind every detail, the time invested, the craftsmanship and the authenticity.

True luxury is quiet. It doesn’t need to shout.

It’s found in products with integrity, meaningful experiences and moments that genuinely improve the way we live.

That’s the kind of luxury Signor Oil wants to represent: not excess, but essence.
