Uun Returns to Ego Death with the Expansive “Panopticon EP”

On April 10, 2026, Uun returns to his Ego Death imprint with Panopticon EP, a six-track release that sharpens his balance between hypnotic restraint and driving intensity. Following recent releases on Semantica and MORD, he continues to define a space where texture, tension, and rhythm remain in constant motion.

The EP’s centerpiece, “Structural Obedience,” stands out as a defining moment. Built on a chugging, forward-moving groove, the track unfolds with the arrival of a razor-edged synth that steadily cuts through the mix. What begins as a tightly controlled structure gradually opens into something more fluid and expansive, with subtle shifts in tone and modulation building a sustained sense of pressure. Uun’s command of dynamics is key here, balancing minimal elements with maximal impact, resulting in a track that is both functional and deeply immersive. It captures his ability to stretch tension without sacrificing momentum.

“Aesthetic Descent” leans into dual synth lines that blur melody and atonality, while “Ralph’s Track” draws from dub-influenced chords with a modern edge. “The Hidden System” introduces off-kilter rhythmic interplay and a rare vocal sample, adding unpredictability to the EP’s flow. On the digital side, “Queen’s Chamber” explores broken beat structures and cavernous atmospheres, while “Shokunin” closes the release with a dense yet subtly hopeful tone.

Originally emerging from Kansas City’s fringe music scene before relocating to Detroit, Uun has developed a sound shaped by both American and European techno traditions. With releases on labels like Mord, Semantica, and Soma, alongside his own Ego Death imprint, his work continues to navigate the space between introspection and dancefloor functionality.
