The Faces Behind is an ongoing portrait and fashion series by Berlin-based photographer Lisa Luxx. The project explores the people behind creative work: designers, stylists, artists, and makers who usually remain unseen behind their creations. Rather than only focusing on what these creatives produce, the series looks at who they are within their own artistic worlds.
Lisa Luxx’s work focuses on transformation, emotional nuance, and the visual emergence of identity. Her photographic language is quiet and restrained, shaped by an interest in subtle shifts rather than overt statements. Through controlled compositions, natural tension, and atmospheric light, her images invite the viewer to slow down and observe moments of change as they unfold.
The series begins with Toni, a designer working in the in-between. Her practice is grounded in observation, translating detail into textured structures and contrasts between raw and organic, formal and urban.
Within The Faces Behind, clothing plays an important role. It is not used as the dominant visual statement, but as part of the narrative, shaping character, movement, and emotional context.
Toni’s presence and creative spirit stayed with Lisa following their first encounter, becoming the starting point for a wider series dedicated to the people whose passion, craftsmanship, and vision shape creative work from behind the scenes.
