After closing the influential chapter of Involve Records, Regal returns with a brand new single titled ‘Avalanche’–a powerful statement marking the launch of his brand-new imprint Backspin Records.

With this inaugural release, Regal sets the tone for the label’s vision: a bold revival and reimagining of early 2000s Hardgroove Techno.

Avalanche delivers raw club energy through rolling basslines, Latin percussion, and looped vocals. The sound is stripped-back and groove-focused, bringing a new feel to Regal’s discography.

A full EP will drop in May 2025. The upcoming roster includes Cristian Varela, Marco Bailey, Obscure Shape, Selective Response, The Miller, and Tarkno.

“We may not have a DeLorean,” Regal says, “but with a strong Backspin, we can go back to the future.”

About Regal

Regal, based in Madrid, has made a name for himself through high-energy techno sets and strong releases. He founded Involve Records in 2012 and played at major venues and festivals like Berghain, Awakenings, and Exit Festival.

His tracks have landed on labels like BPitch, Figure, and Exhale, and he’s collaborated with artists such as Amelie Lens, Len Faki, and Nina Kraviz.

In 2021, he released his debut album “Remember Why You Started” alongside a short film. After a break to focus on studio work, he returned in 2023 with “Not Another Summer EP.”

Regal is also preparing a new album under his ACIDBOY alias. Titled “The Final Chapter,” it explores three decades of Acid Techno through analog production and storytelling.

The Vision Behind Backspin Records

With Backspin Records, Regal moves away from the high-speed acid sounds of Involve and embraces slower tempos, rhythmic layering, and a minimal structure.

The label draws from early 2000s Hardgroove techno. Regal takes cues from Primate, Theory, and Pornographic, and channels artists like Ben Sims, Michael Burkat, and DJ Preach.

Backspin centers rhythm over melody. The goal is simple: produce tough, club-ready tracks with lasting impact.
