Alex Wilcox has returned to BPitch with his debut album, Identity Crisis, which was released on October 23. The album showcases his wildly unpredictable style of dance music across eleven tracks, combining hard-hitting punk-infused techno, electroclash, and glimpses of funk. It appeals not only to fans of techno but also to listeners of punk rock, triphop, and IDM.

Punk-Infused Techno Meets Experimental Dance
Vocals transform into glitched-out guitar solos, jagged synth leads spiral upward, and rhythms mutate into absurd grooves. Alex Wilcox designed the album for big systems and big imaginations, making it raw and sped-up while engineering it with meticulous precision. Drawing from his experiences in Dallas rock bands, Hollywood studios, and Underground Resistance HQ in Detroit, Wilcox brings decades of musical expertise to his work.
Describing the album, Alex says:
“Chest-clenching restlessness, weeping pistons, existential dread in audio form. Punk rock, IDM, and techno permeate. This angry musical diary — high-club functionality, dense emotional fodder, huge beats, artisanal production — refuses to be ignored on this 11-track Southern-Gothic-Punk-Techno album.”

Singles Deliver Satire and High Energy
The lead single, “I HATE ALL OF YOU,” satirizes modern DJ culture with explosive synths and jagged drums. The second single, “SHUT THE FUCK UP,” compresses Rage Against the Machine-style riffs into walls of distortion with sub-cracking low-end and machinegun vocals. “FUCK THAT” fuses machine funk and hardcore punk energy, while “Hey Hey It’s OK” and “STOP!” explore hypnotic vocals and improvisational twists.
Genre-Bending Tracks for Club and Home Listening
Other highlights include a cover of The Butthole Surfers’ “Dog Inside My Body,” the trippy groove of “Funking Funk,” and the introspective title track “Identity Crisis.” “Liberty” and the closing “ZZZZZ YYYYY” keep up high energy and experimental soundscapes throughout. While the album is built for the dancefloor, its intricate production and emotional depth invite careful listening at home. Identity Crisis offers a head-turning, mind-bending experience for electronic music lovers.
