Dina Summer at Säule — KEYI x Säule, 15 Jan 2026

Fronted by Greek native Dina P., Dina Summer is a Berlin-based collaborative band project formed by producer Kalipo and DJ/producer duo Local Suicide. Since coming together in 2019, the trio has carved out a distinctive sonic identity that fuses 80s Italo disco, new wave, EBM, and early 00s electroclash into a dark, retro-futuristic synth-wave sound defined by club-driven basslines, epic melodic hooks, and dada-inflected lyricism.
Rooted equally in club culture and live performance, Dina Summer’s music balances emotional intensity with physical energy, translating nostalgia into something raw, contemporary, and dance-floor focused. With critically acclaimed releases such as Rimini, Who Am I, and Hide & Seek, and widespread support from leading DJs and publications, the project has grown into one of Europe’s most compelling live electronic acts. Now, following the release of their second album Girls Gang, Dina Summer bring their immersive live ritual to Säule for KEYI x Säule, shaping a night where dark disco, EBM tension, and collective movement collide.
Hey dears, how are you today? How did NYE start for you?

Dina: Hey guys! Max and I are still on tour in Mexico at the moment. The new year started in the best way possible – we played NYE at Chula Festival in Puerto Escondido and then continued with shows at Bar Américas in Guadalajara, 93 Beer Tap in Tijuana and Bar Oriente in Mexico City. It’s been intense, but in the most beautiful way. We’ve toured Mexico many times over the years and made so many close friends here, so spending this time in this country we love so much really felt like a gift. At the same time, we’ve definitely missed home and are really looking forward to getting back to Berlin – and what a welcome it will be, playing at your event at Säule this Thursday.

Säule thrives on tension and intimacy — how do you translate Dina Summer’s dark disco energy into a live ritual for a room like Berghain?

Dina: Playing in a place like Säule means a lot to us. We’ve been going to Berghain since we moved to Berlin more than 15 years ago, and hearing our tracks played there over the years has always felt surreal.

For us, it’s about keeping that raw connection and trusting the mood of the room. We like to create a space where intensity and vulnerability can exist at the same time, so it feels less like a show and more like a shared moment.

From Rimini nostalgia to the bold pulse of Girls Gang — which era of Dina Summer will Säule experience first when the lights go down?

Dina: The playlist is different at every show – we always tailor it to the place we’re playing and the energy of the room. But it always carries the full story of Dina Summer – from our very first EP Who Am I and the dreamy nostalgia of Rimini, to the darker edges of the Hide & Seek EP and our sophomore album Girls Gang. For Säule, that story will lean deeper into the night – a set made for the dance floor.

Your sound fuses Italo, EBM, new wave and electroclash — what happens when those worlds collide live inside Säule’s raw concrete walls?

Dina: That contrast is exactly what we love. Säule’s rawness gives the music even more edge – the romantic melodies feel darker, the harder beats feel more physical. When all those influences collide live, it becomes something almost cinematic: emotional but intense, nostalgic but very much in the now. The room doesn’t just host the sound – it shapes it.

Your lyrics move between dadaism and empowerment — how important is storytelling and message when you’re performing in a space that listens as closely as it dances?

Dina: It’s essential. Even in a club context, words matter – sometimes people connect to a feeling before they fully understand the lyrics, but the message still lands. Our texts can either feel abstract and playful or carry an obvious or more hidden message. For us, dancing and listening are not opposites – they feed each other. And words become especially powerful when they’re carried by music and experienced on the dance floor.

Säule sits between club, concert and performance — does your live show lean more toward the dance floor, the stage, or something entirely its own?

Dina: Our motto at the beginning of every show is actually: “We’re here to make you dance.” No matter where we play – a festival, club, a concert hall, or somewhere in between – movement is always part of the experience. Dancing is not just welcome, it’s desired. And honestly, I’m dancing all the way through too – it’s the best way for me to connect with the crowd, the music and the moment.

There’s even science behind why shared live music feels so special: studies show that when people attend a live concert together, their brain waves can synchronize, creating a stronger sense of connection and collective engagement than when listening alone. That synchronicity is linked to greater enjoyment and shared emotional experience, which helps explain why the euphoria on a dance floor feels so much bigger when we’re all in it together.

So we can’t wait to share that moment with you all this Thursday – dancing together and letting our brain waves sync on the dance floor.
