Marija releases “Elsewhere”, out May 15 featuring vocals by Migluma

Lithuanian composer and DJ Marija Paškevičiūtė returns with “Elsewhere”, a new release arriving on May 15 that continues her work between contemporary composition and electronic club music. Known for a practice spanning theatre, contemporary dance, and electronic production, Marija approaches sound with a structural sensibility shaped by her background in composition.

Marija studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre under Rytis Mažulis, a key figure in Lithuanian minimalism. Her work often focuses on repetition, evolving textures, and the integration of contrasting elements into cohesive musical forms. This approach also informs her work as a DJ and producer, which incorporates techno, acid and trance elements.

On “Elsewhere”, Migluma features on vocals. The vocal material is based on “Vilnija Vilnia” and is reworked into a processed melodic form. It sits within a driving techno framework, while layered elements gradually expand the sense of space and movement across the track.

Rather than committing to a single stylistic direction, the release reflects Marija’s broader artistic perspective, moving between club oriented intensity and compositional detail. The track unfolds with a steady sense of motion, resulting in a focused and immersive atmosphere.

Her previous work includes collaborations with major Lithuanian institutions such as the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre and the National Kaunas Drama Theatre, as well as her electroacoustic score for Days, Minutes, which earned her the Golden Cross of the Stage award for Best Theatre Composer.

“Elsewhere” continues this trajectory, maintaining rhythmic clarity while opening into more expansive sonic spaces. The release is set for May 15.
