LA-based producer and live act John Rojas makes his debut on Noetic Music with SKIN, the label’s first full artist album from an artist other than founder David Castellani.
Set to release on 9 October, the eight-track record arrives ahead of Rojas’ appearance at KEYI Magazine x Noetic at ADE on Friday, 23 October, where he will join David Castellani and Chris Liebing for a live performance at This Is Happening Gallery in Amsterdam.
The album opens with “Tongues”, a track that moves between elegance and force.
Its slinky rhythm gives the track a sense of constant physical motion, while the tension running underneath keeps it from feeling too polished or restrained. As the album’s opening track, “Tongues” introduces the body-focused concept of SKIN through a fluid and hypnotic piece that feels equally connected to the dancefloor and to the more personal ideas behind the record.
The concept for SKIN began in summer 2025, when Rojas started choosing a different body part before each studio session and allowing the name to determine where the music would go. More than a dozen pieces eventually became five: “Tongues”, “Oblique”, “Torso”, “Mouth” and “Spleen”. The resulting record moves between four-to-the-floor hypnosis and fractured broken beats, with spontaneity, mistakes and imperfection becoming an important part of the process. Rather than treating the body simply as an image, Rojas uses it as a framework through which to approach his own anxieties, discomforts and growth.
Three remixes complete the album, expanding its five-track core in different directions. Trovarsi and David Castellani turn up the pressure on “Torso”, MAEDON gives “Spleen” a twisted, brain-spangling reinterpretation, while Unfuckable, Castellani’s project with Brittney Vandel, introduces a striking vocal element to “Mouth”. Together, the eight tracks form a record that places physical sensation alongside emotional exposure, marking a significant new chapter for both Rojas and Noetic as the label begins to open its catalogue further beyond Castellani’s own productions.
