As part of Berlin Fashion Week, seefashion26 brought together the next generation of fashion talent for an inspiring graduate showcase at ZK/U – Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik. Organised by the Fashion Design Department at weißensee academy of art berlin, this year’s presentation celebrated the academy’s 80th anniversary while introducing 19 Bachelor and Master graduates to industry professionals, media, and fashion enthusiasts.
A platform for emerging designers
Due to overwhelming interest, the graduate show was presented in two fully booked sessions, reflecting the growing attention surrounding Berlin’s emerging creative talent. Throughout the evening, each collection offered a unique perspective, demonstrating how young designers continue to challenge established ideas of contemporary fashion.
Rather than following a single aesthetic direction, seefashion26 celebrated diversity in design. Experimental silhouettes, innovative material research, and conceptual storytelling appeared alongside analytical approaches to garment construction, highlighting the individuality of each graduate’s creative vision.
Fashion beyond aesthetics
The collections extended beyond clothing, exploring wider conversations around identity, sustainability, transformation, and contemporary society. Through personal narratives and experimental techniques, the graduates demonstrated how fashion can become a powerful medium for cultural reflection as well as creative expression.
This variety of perspectives made the presentation particularly engaging. Each designer approached fashion differently, yet together they reflected the evolving priorities of a new generation that values innovation, responsibility, and individuality.
Celebrating 80 years of creative education
Presented during the academy’s 80th anniversary celebrations, seefashion26 also highlighted the continuing influence of weißensee academy of art berlin as one of Germany’s leading institutions for fashion design. Supported by PLATTE Berlin as part of Berlin Fashion Week, the showcase connected graduating students with industry professionals while giving audiences an early look at tomorrow’s designers.
Looking ahead
For those who missed the runway presentation, the celebration continued during the academy’s Open Days on 11–12 July, concluding with a live presentation of student works on the university campus. The programme offered visitors another opportunity to experience the creativity and innovation shaping the next chapter of German fashion design.
Overall, seefashion26 demonstrated that graduate fashion shows are no longer simply academic milestones.
They have become important platforms where emerging designers introduce fresh ideas, question industry conventions, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of contemporary fashion.
