Inside SOHO BANI’s Berlin Studio: Interview with the Artist and celebration with Rémy Martin

SOHO BANI und Rémy Martin luden in das Berliner Studio des Rappers ein, um sein neues Album “listen carefully” und die gemeinsame Kooperation zu feiern. Im Mittelpunkt des Abends stand die limitierte VSOP Artist Edition von Rémy Martin. In den Texten des Künstlers taucht Rémy Martin seit Jahren immer wieder mal auf und ist ein Teil seines Lebens. Durch diese persönliche Verbindung fühlt sich die offizielle Zusammenarbeit sehr natürlich an.

SOHO BANI and Rémy Martin opened the doors to the Berlin studio of the rapper to celebrate both his new album “listen carefully” and their collaboration. At the center of the evening was the limited Rémy Martin VSOP Artist Edition. The brand has appeared repeatedly in the artist’s lyrics over the years and has long been part of his life, making the official collaboration feel especially natural.

Sein neuestes Album “Listen Carefully“, das im Februar dieses Jahres veröffentlicht wurde, ist ein sehr persönliches Projekt das Rap mit einer emotionalen, oft nachdenklichen Stimmung verbindet. Statt auf große Gesten setzt das Album auf intime Einblicke in Alltag, Beziehungen und innere Prozesse. Im Gespräch erzählt SOHO BANI mehr über den Prozess von “listen carefully”.

His latest album “Listen Carefully”, released in February this year, is a very personal project that blends rap with an emotional, often reflective tone. Rather than relying on big gestures, the album focuses on intimate glimpses into everyday life, relationships, and inner processes. In our interview, SOHO BANI talks more about the creative process behind “Listen Carefully.”

Interview with the Artist GER/ENG:

Was hat dein neues Album inspiriert?

Ich ziehe Inspiration aus dem was ich erlebe. Was bei mir im Kopf abgeht, ich bin immer am denken und bin ein großer Overthinker. Ich muss immer Musik machen über das was mich beschäftigt.

What inspired your newest Album?

I take inspiration from personal experiences. I’m always in my head, thinking. I’m a big over-thinker. I need to make music about things that I am dealing with.

Wie sieht dein Schreibprozess aus?

Ich will mich mehr aktiv hinsetzen und schreiben aber ich bin sehr schnell abgelenkt und überall mit meinem Kopf, deswegen schreibe ich meistens Ideen schnell auf wenn sie mir in den Kopf kommen. Wenn ich ins Studio komme fange ich dann an die Texte weiter auszuarbeiten. 

What does your writing process look like?

I want to try to actively take the time to write, but I get distracted easily and my thoughts are all over the place, so I usually quickly write down ideas that come to my mind and when I get to the Studio, I start further developing the lyrics.

Wie lange habt ihr an dem Album gearbeitet?

Ungefähr ein Jahr.

How long did you work on the Album?

About a year.

Brauchst du nach dem Album eine Pause oder bist du ready fürs nächste Projekt?

Dadurch das ich direkt nachdem wir das Album gedroppt haben für sechs Wochen weggefahren bin, hab ich jetzt wieder todes Bock weiter zu machen.

Do you need a break now that you’ve released the Album or are you ready for the next project?

Right after the Album release I went away for six weeks so now I’m really hyped to work on new things again.

Also hast du jetzt schon angefangen an was neuem zu arbeiten?

Wir fangen jetzt an, ein paar Sachen haben wir noch von früheren Prozessen, aber wir fangen eigentlich bei Null an.

So you already started working on something?

We’re starting now. We already have a few things from old processes but we’ll basically start from zero.

Wie hast du mit Musik angefangen? War Musik schon immer Teil von deinem Leben?

Ich würde nicht sagen das es immer Teil meines Leben war, natürlich hab ich immer viel Musik gehört, damals haben wir nicht ganz gefeiert was im Deutsch Rap abging, und dachten uns wir können das besser. Dann haben wir als Freundesgruppe angefangen ein bisschen zu Rappen.

How did you start making music? Was music always a part of your life?

I wouldn’t say it has always been part of my life, I did listen to a lot of music though. In the past me and my friends didn’t really like what was happening in the german rap scene, so we decided we can do it better. So we started rapping as a friend group.

Also sind deine Freunde auch Inspiration für dich?

Auf jeden fall. Meine Freunde, mein Umfeld, ist ja auch mein Leben und das was ich erlebe, da kommt alles her.

Do your friends inspire you?

Definitely. My friends and my environment – it’s also my life. And everything I experience comes from there.

Wie fühlst du dich auf der Bühne?

Ich bin sehr nervös davor und mach mir sehr viel Kopf was alles passieren könnte. Wenn ich darüber hinwegkomme gibt es schon Momente wo ich es einfach genießen kann. Ich bin immer unfassbar dankbar und überwältigt wie viele Leute kommen. Wie viel Energie einem die Leute geben. Mein Publikum ist einfach sehr dankbar, sie sehen die ganze Liebe, Geduld und Zeit die man reinsteckt. Es ist immer krass auf Tour zu sein.

How do you feel on stage?

I’m very nervous before and think about all the things that could go wrong. When I get past that feeling, there are definitely moments where I can just enjoy it. I am always incredibly thankful and overwhelmed how many people show up. The crowd gives me a lot of energy. My audience is very grateful, the see all the love, patience and time that is put into the music. It’s always crazy to be on tour.
